Caviar of the Pacific - Balolo!

Yep! I ate these (worms)!
We were "fortunate" enough to be visiting a village when these were "in season."

  1. D!!! I'm impressed! Do you cook them or eat them "raw"? what did they taste like???

  2. They were cooked in the leaf that they are holding, in the motu (ground oven). I couldn't even think about the taste, cos the feeling was so strange - the thought of what I was eating alone was making me gag!

  3. At least they were cooked! They look a bit like coloured spaghetti. Mix them with an italian tomato sauce and you'd never know.... yeah right :)
